1.4 Turbo 6 speed engine hesitation

Sorry if there is already a thread started about this but I couldn't find it. If there is, please post a link for me.

There seems to be a lot of hesitation, mostly in lower gears like 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, almost like the engine is missing. It seems to be worse now that it's starting to get cold outside. I took it to the dealer and the service manager said that he has read about this problem but nothing is wrong and it's not missing. He said that Chrysler is aware of it and hopefully a TSB will come out addressing the issue but there's nothing he can do about it right now. He stated that it's Turbo lag but I've never seen Turbo lag act like this. Usually, Turbo lag may hesitate a little while it's spooling up and then everything runs smooth but this hesitation happens 3 or 4 times in between gears and it's pretty bad. The car bucks so much when it hesitates that if you really get on it, it will buck you forward in your seat.

Is anyone else having this problem and if so, did you take it to the dealer to get looked at and what did they say?

    Thanks in advance.

The stock turbo is made to give a good amount of it's power at low RPM's so maybe it is turbo lag?
Hopefully this issue is just a matter of an ECU retune or something like that.

Keep us posted on the issue.

I don't think what mine is doing is the same thing. I don't really have a delay because the throttle response seems ok but once it gets going, it stutters, hesitates, or the best way to describe it is it acts like it's missing. Thanks for the link though.

If it's turbo lag, it's pretty bad. The service manager did mention that hopefully Chrysler will come up with a retune to fix it.

Did you get some bad gas or something? I know its a new car but bad gas could make it run like shit...or perhaps something clogged the injector already.

The problem is that it's not throwing any codes. If an injector was clogged, it would cause the engine to miss and throw a code. Service manager says that it's not missing and there weren't any codes. The manual says to run 91 but 91 is hard to find so I've been putting 93 in it. I don't think it's bad gas but good thought.

Is that even possible with new cars/new engines. I know for the injector to be clogged it has to be from a build up of gunk or something over a long period of time.

If thats the case you could try some fuel injector cleaner but i doubt thats the problem.

Its probably not the issue but it just sounds like similar to what would happen if you were to get bad gas.
